Popular sets to check values
Browse all sets →A price checker that starts with the card in your hand
Most price lookups start with typing: you guess the card name, wade through search results and hope you picked the right print. TCG Companion starts with the card itself. Point your camera, it identifies the exact card, set, number and variant, and the price appears straight away.
That matters because two cards with the same name can be worlds apart in value. A reverse holo, a 1st edition, a promo stamp - each has its own market. The scanner pins down which one you actually own, so the value you see is for that exact card, not a rough average across variants.
What decides what your card is worth
- Rarity. Illustration rares, secret rares and full arts sell for far more than commons. Rarity is tagged on every card in our set lists.
- Condition. A PSA 10 can be worth 5–10× a raw near-mint copy, which is why graded prices are shown separately from ungraded.
- The Pokémon. Charizard, Pikachu and Eevee cards hold value better than niche Pokémon, and the market reacts fast to hype.
- Print and age. Older, smaller-print sets (1st Edition Base, Neo, e-Card) carry a premium modern prints can’t match.
- Variant. Reverse holos, promos and alt arts often sell for multiples of the regular print. Always check the variant.

Frequently asked questions
Where do the prices come from?
Market prices are sourced from PriceCharting. The eBay button opens real listings for the card, so you can cross-check with current marketplace activity.
Is the value checker free?
Core lookups are free. Graded price tiers and advanced features are part of the premium subscription.
Does it work for Japanese cards?
Yes - Japanese Pokémon cards are supported inside the app with their own prices.
Are older cards always worth more?
Not always. Age helps, but print size, condition and Pokémon popularity matter more. A modern Charizard illustration rare can out-value a common 1999 Base Set card.
Should I grade my card before selling?
Only if it's near mint and the graded price clearly beats grading + shipping costs. The app shows graded vs. raw pricing so you can do the math before you submit.
Does it scan sleeved cards?
Yes, most sleeves and toploaders work fine. Very reflective sleeves may need you to tilt the card to avoid glare.
